Microsoft Edge Updates: Seamless Prototype and Current Tools

Microsoft told a prototype that aims to change the version while maintaining open work in Edge article 15 October 2026. The company clearly states that this is not yet in the production code or Chromium. The news does not mean that all Edge users come to re-start-free update.
Different options available with prototype
The seamless update approach in the announcement is at the early development stage. In turn, the “Restart to update on boot” option that can be used today is able to apply the expected update by restarting the browser when the device is idle. So this feature does not eliminate restart.
Microsoft also tells Security Update Alerts tools in Edge management service. These alerts offered for Managed Windows devices help track versions and update needs that contain security correction.
