A patch panel is a passive connection point where office data links terminate in an organised way at the rack; it does not act as a switch. Panel, module and patch cord scope
An unloaded panel and a panel supplied with connection modules are different delivery items. Check module form, category, screening and installation instructions against the exact product code. What record is handed over after reorganisation?
First record and verify existing outlet–panel–switch mapping and what each connection serves. Then record changed ports and unused connections. In a hypothetical 24-port panel with 18 active links, new links cannot automatically be assigned to every empty port; reserved ports and active-equipment capacity need separate checks.
Distinguish continuity checks from performance measurements
Fluke Networks defines different boundaries for permanent link and channel measurements; a channel includes patch cords. Seeing conductor continuity alone therefore does not establish documented category performance. Specify the required measurement type, boundary and results file in the quotation.
