BTK outlines domestic-product and coverage targets for 5G investment
Source announcement: 2026-10-23 · Event date: 2026-10-23
At the Türkiye Century in Transport and Infrastructure Summit in Istanbul on 23 October, BTK Chairman Mehmet Koçyiğit outlined targets for 5G investment and domestic telecommunications products. The statement concerns mobile operators’ infrastructure and coverage obligations, not a new business tariff.

Domestic products and transport routes in focus
According to the speech published by the authority, 5G investment requirements call for the domestic-goods share to rise gradually to 60 percent and the National Communications Product share to 15 percent. These are separate categories, not interchangeable figures.
Koçyiğit said smart motorways and smart high-speed rail routes must receive uninterrupted coverage within 1 year of opening. He also said operators must keep 450 satellite-capable mobile base stations ready. These figures come from BTK’s statement; they are not connection measurements for a particular office.
Quad Bilişim commentary
The development highlights that telecommunications investment involves supply ecosystems and service continuity as well as speed. National coverage obligations and one business’s indoor connectivity experience are different measures; that distinction matters when reading the announcement.
