Regional Gateway HTTP inspection supported on Cloudflare WAN traffic
Source announcement date: 2026-10-30 · News/event date: 2026-10-30
Cloudflare announced on October 30 that WAN traffic can use a Gateway processing region through Regional Services. The feature concerns businesses controlling where HTTPS traffic undergoes TLS decryption and HTTP inspection.

Scope of the announcement
Traffic can enter Cloudflare through an IPsec or GRE tunnel or Direct CNI. The first ingress data center may be outside the selected region; traffic stays encrypted until routed to that region for inspection. Unified routing is required.
The processing region applies to Gateway HTTP traffic, not Gateway DNS or network policy processing. Supported regions, configuration and limitations are covered in the provider’s official data residency documentation.
Quad Bilişim commentary
The distinction between network ingress and the place where content is decrypted matters in data residency discussions. Reading the announcement as moving all types of traffic into one region would overstate its scope.
