Cloudflare introduces a read-only keyboard option for Browser Isolation in beta
Source announcement date: 2026-11-04 · News/event date: 2026-11-04
On November 4, 2026, Cloudflare announced a new “Allow read-only actions” keyboard option for Browser Isolation policies. The beta option aims to preserve actions such as find in page and zoom while blocking keyboard data entry into the isolated page.

Keyboard, copy and print have separate controls
According to the announcement, find in page, select all, copy, print and zoom can be used in this mode. Other keyboard input is not sent to the isolated page. Copy and print remain subject to their own policy settings; this option does not enable them unconditionally.
For example, a separate copy prohibition is not overridden by the read-only keyboard setting. The announcement describes a beta feature, not an automatic setting for all browsers or organizations. Product documentation also says mouse input remains available and this setting does not prevent input through third-party virtual keyboards.

For businesses, the notable point is limiting data entry without having to stop reading altogether. Viewing a page and entering information into it are different permissions. This feature is also a reminder that one “allow” setting does not govern every form of data movement in the same way.
